Privacy Policy

GoKalpa ("we", "us", "our") is a platform built by and for the farming community of India. Our goal is simple: to help farmers across India buy and sell cattle — cows and buffaloes — for dairy (milking), agricultural and breeding purposes. We do not support, encourage or permit the sale of any animal for meat, slaughter or killing.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use GoKalpa, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and other applicable Indian law. By using GoKalpa you consent to the practices described here.

1. What this policy covers

This policy applies to all users of the GoKalpa Android app and the gokalpa.in website, anywhere in India. "Personal data" means any information that can identify you, such as your name or phone number. "Processing" means anything we do with that data — collecting, storing, using or sharing it.

2. Information we collect

• Account details: your mobile phone number (verified by OTP) and, if you sign in with Google, your Google account name and email address.
• Profile details: your name, profile photo, gender and age, if you choose to add them.
• Listing details: photos and videos of the animal, breed, age, milk yield, pregnancy status and similar attributes, asking price, and the listing location you provide — including street address, city, state, PIN code and map coordinates.
• Location: with your permission, your device's GPS location — used to auto-fill your listing address and to show listings near you.
• Chats: messages you exchange with other users through the in-app chat, and contact-sharing requests and approvals.
• Device & usage data: a push-notification token for your device, app interaction events, crash reports, log data and anonymised session recordings used to fix bugs and improve the app.

What we do NOT collect: we do not ask for or store your Aadhaar number, PAN, bank account, card details or any government ID. GoKalpa processes no payments, so no financial information ever passes through us.

3. How we use your data

• To create and secure your account (OTP login, Google sign-in).
• To publish your listings and show them to interested buyers near you.
• To enable chat between buyers and sellers, and to send push notifications for new messages and contact requests.
• To reveal your phone number to a buyer only after you explicitly approve their contact request.
• To send you one-time passwords (OTPs) and service messages needed to operate your account, consistent with TRAI regulations on commercial communication.
• To understand app usage, fix crashes and improve features.
• To detect and act on listings or behaviour that violate our Terms of Service — including any attempt to trade animals for slaughter.
• To comply with applicable law and lawful requests from authorities.

4. What other users can see

Your listings — including animal photos, details, price, your name, profile photo, and the listing's general location (city, state, PIN code) — are visible to other users of the app. Your phone number is never shown publicly; it is shared with a specific buyer only when you approve their request in chat.

5. Third-party services we use

We use trusted service providers to run GoKalpa. They process data on our behalf under their own security commitments:

• Supabase — database, authentication and file storage for accounts, listings and chats.
• Google Firebase — analytics, crash reporting (Crashlytics) and push notifications (Cloud Messaging).
• Google Maps Platform — address search, autocomplete and geocoding when you set a location.
• Microsoft Clarity — anonymised session replays and heatmaps to improve usability.
• Sentry — error monitoring.
• ChottuLink — short links for sharing listings.

Some of these providers may store or process data on servers located outside India. By using GoKalpa you consent to such transfer, subject to the protections of the DPDP Act. We do not sell your personal data to anyone, and we do not share it with advertisers.

6. Cookies and log data (website)

The gokalpa.in website uses only essential technical storage needed for the app to function (such as session state) and the analytics services listed above. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers.

7. Your rights under the DPDP Act, 2023

• Access: ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is processed.
• Correction & updating: correct inaccurate or incomplete data — most profile and listing data can be edited directly in the app.
• Erasure: ask us to delete your account and personal data.
• Withdraw consent: withdraw previously given consent — for example, turn off location or notification access — at any time from your device settings. Some features may stop working without it.
• Nominate: nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity, as provided by the DPDP Act.
• Grievance redressal: raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer, and if unresolved, escalate to the Data Protection Board of India.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address in Section 12. We respond within the timelines required by law.

8. Data retention & account deletion

We keep your data only as long as it is needed for the purposes described above. Listings you delete are removed from the platform. If you request account deletion, we delete your personal data, except for records we are legally required to retain (for example, to comply with law-enforcement obligations), which are kept only as long as the law requires. To request deletion, email us from your registered account.

9. Security

Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and is stored with role-based access controls. We take reasonable security safeguards appropriate to the data we handle, as required by the DPDP Act. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure — please keep your device and OTPs safe and never share them with anyone.

10. Children

GoKalpa is intended for users aged 18 years and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor is using the platform, please report it to us.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product or the law evolves. The effective date above shows the latest revision, and material changes will be communicated in the app or on this page.
